Classic blackjack

Classic Blackjack is a popular form of casino table game. It uses eight decks of 52 cards that are shuffled before each hand. The dealer does not receive a hole card, and is required to hit with a total of 16 or less or a soft 17 (aces, sevens, and seventeen). A player losing to blackjack will lose his or her mandatory bet, and any optional bets will be returned.

Although the game is played with only one deck, there are several variations available, including more than one deck. Netent’s version of blackjack uses three boxes and six standard 52-card decks minus Jokers. There are also different rules for how the dealer will act, and the common rule is that if the dealer has a soft 16 (an ace and a two-card total), he or she must hit. Typically, players can double down after splitting a pair.

The player has a slight advantage over the dealer when using basic strategy and a continuous shuffler. The house edge increases as the number of decks increases, and a player can lose if the dealer has a natural blackjack. If the dealer does have a natural blackjack, the player loses. Those who play blackjack regularly will want to know how the game works, and the strategies that are best for each type of player.
